My philosophy
I believe birth is a natural, normal process and I believe a woman’s body is designed to give birth. It is my role as a midwife to be a guardian over that process and to be a support throughout your journey of becoming a parent. I am here to offer guidance, support, knowledge, and skills, both as a fellow mother who believes in your ability to birth your baby, and as an experienced birth professional.
About Me
I was born and raised in a small town in Oklahoma. When I was 18 years old I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in dance. Eventually, I felt called to do “something else” with my life, “something that helped others.” That is when I moved to Colorado and discovered my love of birth. I have lived in Boulder since 2003. I live on a small farm with a large garden with my wonderful husband and hilarious daughter Charley Birdie Ann who was born at home in August 2011.
My Education and Training
I began my introduction into the birth world by becoming a prenatal yoga instructor and labor and postpartum doula in 2007. After only a year of working with pregnant woman I knew I wanted more, so I began apprenticing and attending home births. In 2008, I began school at Birthwise Midwifery School. Just before my daughter was born in August of 2011 I finished my academic requirements. Currently in the process of completing my clinical experience to become a nationally recognized Certified Professional Midwife. I am a member of the Colorado Midwives Association and regularly attend conferences, workshops, peer review and continuing education within the field of midwifery and birth.
